Latinath Power Company Limited, a company established and incorporated for the development and operation of hydropower projects to generate and supply electricity to National grid as its prime objective. The company is currently developing 9.68 MegaWatt, Nwa Gad Hydroelectric Project a run off river type project in Nwa gad river, a major tributary of Chameliya river located at Marma Rural Municipality, Darchula district of Sudhur Paschim Province in the Far Western region of Nepal. The major promoter/investor behind this company is Api Power Company Limited, a leading company in Nepal's Power Sector with Power Generation and Supply to National Grid as its core business. Api Power Company Limited shall invest and shall own shares i.e. majority 51% stake holding in the Company. As a Promoter in this Darchula Power Limited, Api Power Company Limited invest the Equity required for the development of the Projects owned.
Geographically the Project is located between the Latitude 290 44' 44" to 290 45' 04” North and Longitude 800 47' 43" to 800 49' 40" East. The intake and powerhouse sites lie in the Darchula District at altitudes of 1365.0m amsl and 1070.0m amsl respectively. The effective catchment area of Nwa Gad River at the proposed intake site is around 56.0 km2. Based on the hydrological analysis, a design discharge of 3.93 m3/s is derived at 40.00% probability of flow exceedance.
With the available gross head of 295.0m and considering the losses in water conveyance, a net head of 284.74m is available at Powerhouse. Two units of Horizontal Shaft Pelton turbines 4.85 MW (each) is designed to generate 9.68 MW power at design discharge of 3.93 m3/s and 284.74m head. Since, Api Power Company Limited has constructed and operate its 132 kV double circuit transmission line used to evacuate the energy from Mathilo Chameliya Hydroelectric Project, we intend to evacuate the power from the same to the switchyard to NEA’s substation at Balanch Substation, Darchula district. The total annual energy generation from the plant will be 51.76GWh, out of which 38.33 GWh is the wet seasonal energy and 13.43 GWh is the dry seasonal energy.
The company has applied the Survey License of the Project from the Department of Electricity Development, Ministry of Energy and shall soon complete the Detailed Survey of the Project. Company shall apply for the Power Purchase Agreement with Nepal Electricity Authority and later obtain the Generation License and soon starts its construction.
